1st July 1916 -7:28 AM- In the first minutes of the Battle of the Somme an underground mine exploded Boisselle forming what is known today as Lochnagar crater. The noise of the explosion was so loud it was heard in England.

With a diameter of 450 feet, the 220 feet deep crater bears witness to the terrible scars left by WW1 on Northern France countryside.

    The most impressive site of WW1 in the Somme. Imagine here on 1st July 1916, the men had no idea that they were going towards certain death.
