» Marroilles

Hometown of the famous eponymous cheese,  Maroilles is also a charming village. Don't miss the 18th century Church and the Abbey's watermill.

Don't miss the famous "flamiche au maroilles" - a puff pastry tart filled with cheese. This should give you plenty of energy to explore the surrounding Avesnois regional natural park this afternoon! What about a walk in the forest of Mormal or a stroll around Val Joly lake  right at the border with Belgium?

It’s a beautiful place, you can hike all around the village and you can see a beautiful water mill. You can also eat a « flamiche au maroilles » it’s the speciality. The smell of the cheese is strong but it’s delicious.
